(20.10.11) 35 Years of PIC – Switching the smart way
This fall PIC Proximity Instrumentation Controls Kontaktbauelemente GmbH celebrates its 35th anniversary.
The company, which was founded in October 1976, began as a distributor of Reed Switches from various well known manufacturers.
Meanwhile, in the mid-1990s, PIC established a test lab and a R&D-Team. These actions lead to the development of a product line incorporating PIC's own standard Reed Sensors and the possibility of providing the specific processing of Reed Switches – PIC became a "Full-Service-Provider" in Reed Technology.
Today's product line includes Reed Switches, SMD Reed Switches, Reed Sensors, Level Sensors, Magnets and individual customized sensing solutions. Amongst our customers are many well-known manufacturers from the Home Appliance, Automotive, Medical Technology and Measurement-and-Control industries.
The PIC Group members are: the headquarters in Wendelstein (close to Nürnberg in Germany), sales offices in Europe and Asia and a 100% owned DIN ISO 9001/2008 certified factory in China since 2003. The factory covers a total area of more than 4200m² and has a capacity of approximately 20 million Reed Sensors per year.
With more than 300 employees throughout the world the PIC Group achieved a turnover of more than USD 15 million in 2010 and is expecting a further 20% increase on this figure for 2011. Continued investments in the automation of production processes and quality processes are the basis for ongoing growth in the future.
